Winter at Streatlam Park' Large Picture W/C
Streatlam Park was owned by the Late Queen Mother's family, the Strathmores. About the time of her wedding to the Duke of York ( later King George 6th) they sold the Park with all its houses, grounds, and castle. Most of the Castle has since then been demolish by the present owners the Pease Family . The orangery still remains but now is in need of some love, care and attention.
The Park consists of tenant farms and private house which are all rented out
The picture shows the gamekeeper with his land rover. He is chatting to one of the tenants, who's busy with his tractor and snow plough but stopped for a breather amidst his snow clearing. Judith has painted this working scene of snow clearing set among the Home Farm buildings on the park.
